Discrimination—whether based on ethnicity, gender, disability, or other social factors—can have severe psychological consequences. The "Discrimination, It Stops with You!" project was designed to tackle both the psychological impact of discrimination and the societal attitudes that perpetuate it.
Funded by Oxfam Iraq (Masarouna Project on SRHR), the project combined mental health support with advocacy, ensuring that those affected had access to both practical resources and a platform for awareness-raising.
Key Components
This project operated on two main fronts:
Development of a Self-Help Mental Health Manual
A practical guide created for individuals who have experienced discrimination, offering psychological coping strategies, self-care techniques, and empowerment tools.
Written in accessible language, the manual ensures that anyone—regardless of education level—can benefit from its guidance.
By incorporating both psychological insights and real-life narratives, the manual bridges scientific knowledge with lived experience, making it a valuable resource for individuals and advocacy groups alike.
Online Advocacy Campaign
A digital campaign designed to challenge discriminatory attitudes, highlight personal stories, and promote mental well-being.
Used social media engagement, infographics, and video content to raise awareness about the mental health impacts of discrimination.
Encouraged community dialogue and policy discussions around discrimination and psychosocial well-being.
Project Duration: December 1, 2023 – March 15, 2024
By integrating mental health support with advocacy, this project empowered individuals to recognize their rights, develop resilience, and push for systemic change in their communities.
