The project, titled "Factors Associated with IPV among Women in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq," was part of the larger initiative "Empowering through Understanding: Psychologia's Academic Initiative on GBV with Was Funded by Doria." This study aimed to explore the various individual, relationship, societal, and community-level factors associated with intimate partner violence (IPV) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, a region still recovering from decades of conflict, including the ISIS war.
Data for this research were collected from 756 ever-married women in the Kurdistan Region using online forms and questionnaire distribution.
The research focused on generating evidence to inform statistical models for understanding IPV and its risk and protective factors. The goal was to use this data to inform policy and program development, particularly those aimed at preventing IPV by addressing the underlying factors that contribute to it. This study contributes to a scientific gap in the literature regarding IPV in the region, offering a solid evidence base to guide future interventions.
