Discrimination—whether based on ethnicity, gender, disability, or other social factors—has serious psychological consequences. As part of the "Discrimination, It Stops with You!" project, we developed a comprehensive self-help manual to provide individuals with the tools to cope with discrimination-related distress.
Manual Development:
Written in English by Dyari S. Hama Amin, ensuring a scientific yet accessible approach.
Translated into Kurdish (Sorani) by Marino & Shahen, expanding its reach within the Kurdish-speaking community.
Further translated into Kurdish (Badini) and Arabic, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility across linguistic groups.
Key Features of the Manual:
Psychological coping strategies for dealing with discrimination
Self-care techniques to support mental well-being
Empowerment tools to strengthen resilience and self-advocacy
Real-life narratives to bridge scientific knowledge with lived experiences
This manual serves as a critical resource for individuals and advocacy groups seeking to combat discrimination while prioritizing mental health.
Project Duration: December 1, 2023, to March 15, 2024
Impact: Created a multilingual resource to support mental well-being among marginalized communities
