Project Idea:

After fixing a date for holding the elections for the sixth Parliamentary term of Kurdistan Region, to be held on 20/10/2024, KARA Organization for Awareness and Development decided to prepare and implement a project on the dissemination of‌ electoral awareness and the importance of participating in the political process. The project consisted of a number of activities that were carried out concurrently as complementary elements to the project and were as follows:

- Conduct a questionnaire on the elections.

- Organizing four workshops in (Sulaymaniyah, Erbil, Dohuk and Rania in the district of Rapareen). The workshops had the same title as the project. Participants in the workshops represented groups and elites of different social spectrums (electoral lists and candidates, academics, clergy and representatives of civil society organizations).

- Production and dissemination of short publicity and awareness films (spot media) on social media channels.

The project benefited from the expertise of academics and experts in the fields of elections and political participation. The project was implemented by an efficient working group of KARA.

More than 250 participants in the workshops.

Goals of the project:

- Disseminate political awareness within the context of strengthening the democratic process through active participation in elections.

-  focusing on the political dimensions of the electoral process and the importance of political awareness for those who participate in the process, candidates in particular.
